It’s amazing how much my Bikram Yoga life seeps into my everyday world without me evening noticing. The other night, I was teaching an evening class. We’re getting near the end of the semester, and the class has a big project due. Since all my students are working professionals, I let them have this particular class as a night to come in and do actual project work for three full hours. I was there to help them as needed.
One of my students came in and told me that she had forgotten a lot of her materials at home. However, given where she worked, where class was, and where she lived, it made zero sense for her to go home and get her stuff.
“So, what are you planning to do tonight?” I asked.
“I’m here for the party” she said.
I laughed and noted I didn’t think we’d be having much of a party, but she disagreed. “We have a party every class,” she said.
We do?
Oh…yeah…that’s right….we have party time in my university class. For real.
I have a website for every course I teach. For each course, I have a page called “Updates.” On the updates page you will find the dates of each class. Click on a date, and you will be provided with an overview of what we will be doing in class that night. I always give a break. But I don’t say break. I have started writing in, “Party-time. Go have a 10-minute party.”
Yes, I give 10-minute parties in my class. Who wants me to come be their next Bikram instructor? š
