About Me

I have been practicing Bikram yoga for over three years In the last year, I have ramped up my practice considerably. I am currently practicing 6-7 days a week. In January 2012, I completed seven straight days of doubles. In May 2012, I began (and then later completed) a 66-day challenge. In November 2012, I participated in my first regional competition (and likely placed last).

I am also an associate professor of literacy studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. I live in Durham, NC. You can find me practicing at Bikram Yoga Raleigh: http://bikramyogaraleigh.com/.

The picture you see here is what I look like when I’ve showered after class.

Thanks Leigh and I enjoyed reading your blog about period and yoga. I find women are low on iron around their cycles which could male a difference in class before, during and after. I only eat fish and minimal chicken. I agree it is a tougher time during my cycle.

I look forward to seeing you in the Hot Room 🙂

So glad I found your blog. I’ve just recently started and am surprised at how much I’m enjoying Bikram yoga. There are a couple poses I’m convinced I’ll never be able to do – but who knows? It’s definitely a journey. Thanks for your insights.

What a transformation, Ms Hall ! I remember you as my 6th grade teacher back in 1997. It has been ages. I will give Bikram yoga a try myself. You look very content with life!

Hi Anita! What a fabulous surprise to hear from you. If I taught you in 1997, I had you in my first year of teaching. I was probably a complete mess. 🙂 I hope all is well with you. If you try Bikram, let me know what you think.

I’ve really been enjoying your blog- and I love that you are able to have such a busy, successful practice along with being a professor! I am currently working on my PhD and will likely be pursuing a career in academia when I finish. How has your experience been balancing your Bikram life with your work life?
